19th Annual Robin Run
Robin Givens exuded all that the YMCA, Girls on the Run, and STRIDE stand for. She was a loving mother dedicated to nourishing and encouraging her family. She worked patiently with children teaching them the importance of fitness, motivating them to learn, and deepening their moral values. She was an inspiration to all who knew her, promoting spirit, and mental and physical well-being.
This is an exciting and hard-to-schedule time at the Foundation YMCA. This year only, the Robin Run is being reimagined. Since the second Robin Run, the intent has been to honor Robin when the Y opened a new space. The Robin Givens Plaza is the blue outdoor area outside of the Aquatics Center. The blue mondo will allow classes to be held outside and it will also be a great staging area for swim meets. Beginning in 2023, this is where the Robin Run will begin and end.
This year, instead of a 5K, gifts to the 19th Annual Robin Run opportunity will provide sail shades for the Robin Givens Plaza. They will provide shade, enhance usability, and make the plaza more attractive. Donor recognition will be displayed at the new Y as well as on all social media outlets. The cost and installation of the sail shades are approximately $25,000.
